The 2022 Bible Reading Plan - 5 Day a Week Plan
In 2022, we are planning to stay with the 5 day a week reading plan that we used last year for our reading plan as a church, that also matches the 5 day a week plan found on the Dwell app to make it easy to switch between reading and listening.
What you read impacts you. Think about how you feel when you read your news feed. Reading the Bible on a regular and consistent basis has several benefits. First, the Bible shows us God’s character and provides us God’s revelation of himself to his people. In each section of the Bible, we see God’s holy, unchanging, faithful, gracious and loving character.
Second, 2 Timothy 3:16–17 when discussing the topic of Scripture says that it is “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness.” The next verse goes on to say that this leads to the completeness and equipping “for every good work” (ESV).
Third, regularly reading God’s word reorients our thinking so that we can grow in maturity, which is part of the Christian calling (Ephesians 4:14–16; Romans 12:1–2). Have you ever met a mature Christian who did not regularly read the Bible? These three things are really just the beginning, this list could include dozens of reasons why you should read the Bible on a regular basis
Reading the Bible through in a year is a goal for many Christians, but is a significant challenge to accomplish. With the Five Day Bible Reading Schedule you can do it! Many many Christians the world over have used it to successfully "stay on course" with a Bible reading program through an entire year.
The Five Day Bible Reading Schedule's secret is that you only have to read five times a week, not every day. This allows time for catching up, taking a day off, read other parts of the Bible to prepare for Bible class, etc. Read the entire Bible or just the New Testament - it's your choice and it is easier than ever to accomplish!
In 2009 we completely revised the Five Day Schedule to make it easier to complete, fit the readings into their proper chronology more accurately, and better balance the readings up so no one day is too burdensome. It also has been re-formatted to be easier to read and use. All this contributes to daily Bible reading being do-able and practical. The Schedule fits on a standard sheet of 8.5" x 11" (letter) paper.
As always there is a Facebook group set up for posting and discussion of the readings that we are going through. Contact Kyle or Tony to be added to the group.
